Twitter, How Do I, get on it…
(The basics)
So the first in the series of How Do I’s looks at getting you on to the big wide world of twitter. Here you can find instructions on getting on line. I will leave you to explore the world once on it.
First of remember Twitter is public by default. However, you can make it private but whatever you do will be in the public domain so be careful what you tweet!
Ok so twitter how do I access it?
On the internet, your
PC or MAC
(If you have created an account on your phone you only need to go to the www
page and login)
I will assume you all know how to use your PC/MAC so open your browser and go to www.twitter.com find the sign-up button normally top left and click that.
The “Full name” that you provide
will be your display name, but unlike Facebook or other places, you can change
your display name to whatever you want as many times as you want, so it’s easy
to stay anonymous. Pick a username you like. That will be your handle, and
people can see and contact you by.
Enter in your phone number or email address. This is a form of authentication
that will help in case you ever lose access to your account. (Its private)
Over the next few steps you have options
to ‘skip/continue/no thanks’ if you do not wish to fill them in.
When you get to the ‘final step’ untick select all and then click continue.
Done you are now on Twitter!!
There are ways to change your picture and settings etc, but I will let you work that out for yourself.
OK so most of you will
use phones.
(If you have created an account on your PC/MAC you only need to download the
app and sign in)
By downloading the app on your phone be it Android through the play store
or Apple through iTunes. (I know there’s windows phones as well, but does anyone
actually use that? Look at the Windows Store)
Any way I assume you all know how to use your own phones, so I won’t tell you how to download an app.
Got to your store search for Twitter and hit install.
Done that? Good good now find the app on your phone and load it.
Click get started and enter your name, this will be your login/nickname
doesn’t have to be your real name.
Enter your phone number (its private) Twitter will send you a confirmation
code, enter that and press next.
Enter a password and then enter email address.
You will be asked to confirm your user name this is the name that everyone will
see..
Untick the upload and sync address book and press Let’s go!
Skip & Skip for now. Untick You may be interested in and continue.
Your good to go!!
